How to read a Certificate of Analysis

Use the report for the item you are reviewing, rather than a document for a different compound or batch.

Match the item

Compare the compound name and batch reference with the label. Ask our team about any mismatch or missing reference.

Read what was measured

Check the reported methods, results, units and test date. Request clarification from the issuer if a result is unclear. Do not assume a test passed when no result is reported.

Check the issuer

Look for the issuing laboratory and its contact information. Ask the issuer to confirm a document if you have concerns about it.

Keep the intended use in view

Analytical records should be read with their stated methods and intended use. NIST describes these elements for its own reference-material certificates; this does not imply NIST certification of our products. See NIST certificate definitions.

For Pure Peptides documents, contact our team with the compound and batch reference. Our products are supplied for laboratory research only.
